In early October, the Matanuska-Susitna Borough Assembly voted to display various documents deemed historically significant in the Main Borough Building in Palmer. The documents include the Ten Commandments, the Magna Carta, the Preamble to the Alaska Constitution, and a summary of Hammurabi’s Code.
Funding for the display will come from donations as the resolution specifies no Borough funds can be put towards the project.
At the Borough School Board meeting last Tuesday, Superintendent Dr. Randy Trani proposed opening a similar display.
While the specifics of where the documents would be displayed and how the School Board would secure funding for their display are unclear, the Board will address the proposal officially at their next meeting in January.
