The Renewable Energy Alaska Project, or REAP, is a consortium of 90 energy utilities, conservation groups, consumer groups, and alaska tribal entities that is urging Alaska to diversify its energy resources. As part of its mission, REAP holds a monthly seminar in Anchorage and online, and attempts to identify ways to reduce the financial expense of fossil fuel dependance for electrical generation in Alaska, which has the highest energy costs in the nation.
REAP’s executive director, Chris Rose, gave a presentation on Wednesday night in Anchorage outlining the organization’s legislative priorities head of the 2013 Alaska State legislative session. KTNA’s Lorien Nettleton spoke with Rose about the program, and what they would be focusing on in the coming months.
