So Much Snow

The latest storm has dumped quite a lot of snow on the Upper Valley in a short period of time. The National Weather Service Anchorage Forecast Office has not yet received any reports from the Upper Valley area to confirm totals. Meteorologist Brandon Lawson says he wouldn’t be surprised if more than a foot had fallen since last night. 

While this storm won’t drop any more measurable snow, prepare for another event on Wednesday morning. Lawson says that the next snow storm is predicted to dump 20 to 24 inches of snow over two to three days. 

Lawson says the most recent storm is a result of the weather pattern and the amount of moisture the system was able to tap into as it traveled over Southcentral Alaska. 

Winter weather in Southcentral is hard to predict because of the mountain ranges and Gulf of Alaska. There is no way to know if November will continue to dump snow or if the pattern will change.

On Friday, expect a shot of cold air moving through the interior following the next storm.
