In this StarDate Susitna Kathleen Fleming talks about observational astronomy particular to the Upper Susitna Valley. Specifically, long twilights and the waxing gibbous Moon; it’s useful light, best timing for moonlit activites outdoors, and the unique circumstance at latitude 62 degrees north where the Moon will not set (or rise) for a day or two each month over the next couple years. There is a photo assigment for Monday and Tuesday mornings.

Yaks Run Loose on Talkeetna Spur Road
At least twice this summer, yaks have been spotted running loose along the Talkeetna Spur Road. Mat-Su Borough Animal Control has opened a case for multiple reports about the loose
