In this StarDate Susitna Kathleen Fleming talks about observational astronomy particular to the Upper Susitna Valley. Specifically, long twilights and the waxing gibbous Moon; it’s useful light, best timing for moonlit activites outdoors, and the unique circumstance at latitude 62 degrees north where the Moon will not set (or rise) for a day or two each month over the next couple years. There is a photo assigment for Monday and Tuesday mornings.

The accompanying photo was taken last month by Karl Swanson, when it was the Full Moon’s turn to “not set”.
