Kathleen has marked this sky chart to show how the Sun, Mercury, Venus and the waxing crescent Moon all set at about the same time. This chart is for 6pm on Saturday 10-5-24, it was generated on heavens-above.com.
Kathleen took this picture of the waning crescent high above the eastern horizon on Monday morning 9-30-24. The evening waxing crescent is not visible from our latitude during fall. (see star chart) Earth Shine (visible on the dark portion of the Moon) will be discussed in a future SDS program.
