Sunshine Health Clinic CEO addresses concerns surrounding federal funding

On January 28th, the US Office of Management and Budget released a memo calling for a temporary pause on federal financial assistance.
After receiving backlash, the initial memo was rescinded less than 24 hours after it was sent out. However, the Trump administration made it clear that, while the pause outlined in the memo is not happening, they are still planning to reduce federal funding overall.
This coming reduction in federal funding led many to be concerned about their local organizations receiving federal assistance.
According to Sunshine Health Clinic CEO Justin Gilmore, it’s too early to know what the impacts on the clinic could be.
“While there are a lot of different things being discussed at the federal level as potential changes, nothing has actually happened yet,” he said, “And I want to reassure all of you that my team and I are putting a lot of time and energy into ensuring that we stay on top of these different changes.”
The Trump administration stated that Medicaid, Medicare, and similar programs will not be impacted, but it is still unclear which organizations could be facing cuts.
Gilmore said, regardless of what happens, the clinic will continue to put patients’ health first.
