Pit toilets that were once at the Talkeetna Village Park were moved to the Whigmi Trailhead this week. The Mat-Su Borough Assembly included the project in this year’s CIP, or Capital Improvement Plan.
The pit toilets had been replaced by new facilities with flushing toilets and running water. But the pit toilets remained in the downtown park until this week.
Earlier this year, a contractor prepared the Whigmi Trailhead site. Borough Parks Outdoor Recreation Specialist Brian Robison says he is unsure of an exact date when the project will be completed, since the toilets still need some repairs and painting. But he says he hopes they will be ready for the early ski season.
