Storynory & Mory started out this week with a dreamy romantic tale from Persia about China (just to be confusing). Then we picked up The Secret Garden as Mary finds there are yet more secrets to her new home at Misselthwaite Manor. Downton Abbey fans have no doubt noted that both this story and Downton Abbey are set at huge manors/castles in Yorkshire, so now that Downton is done for the year you can fill that gap in your life with The Secret Garden every week on KTNA!

Mysteries continue to build at Misselthwaite Manor. Not only is the door to the secret garden hidden, but a strange cry is heard in the corridors at night. Plus, for Valentines Day we played the romantic tale of The Cowherd and the Weaving Maid, which not only provides a love story for Valentines Day but offers an explanation for an important sight in the night sky. Heads up Stardate Susitna – we’re treading on your turf!

The second chapter of The Secret Garden follows the newly-orphaned Mary Lennox to England and begins revealing something about the strange house to which she is headed.
Do you know a nursery rhyme that has a “Mary” as a main character other than “Mary Had a Little Lamb,” “Mary, Mary Quite Contrary,” or “Mary Had a Pretty Bird”? If so, please send to storynory{at}ktna.org.

Wednesday, January 16, 2013
This week began a long story that we will cover over the next several weeks, a reading of The Secret Garden by Frances Hodgson Burnett, published in 1910 as a serial and 1911 as a book. The story starts in India, so the opening act is was the Indian Tale of the Brahman, the Tiger, and the Jackal. Enjoy!

Bertie and the General
Wednesday, January 9, 2013
In this first new Storynory & Mory following Tevi’s retirement, Prince Bertie the Frog made a surprising phone call to Charlie to help provide guidance on what stories to play next. His first recommendation? Bertie’s pick was The Secret Garden, a book by Frances Hodgson Burnett read by Natasha over several episodes. The first episode will be broadcast next week. For this week, Bertie modestly recommended a story about himself, Bertie and the General, which is a quite good tale. You can listen to Charlie’s conversation with Prince Bertie as well as the story by clicking the links below.
