Talkeetna Library hosts the last Tween Page to Screen program for the season on Saturday, April 11th from 5-7pm. The book Nancy Drew and the Hidden Staircase by Carolyn Keene will be discussed and then the movie will be compared to the book. Tweens ages 9-12 are welcome.

Denali Arts Council hosts the Soggy Sneaker 5K Run as part of the Banff Film Festival festivities on Saturday, April 11th. The run starts at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar at 12pm, winding through some soggy spring snow along the Chase Trail, and finishing at the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge. There is a Caswell RSA 15 Road board meeting meeting today (Monday, April 13th) at 6:30PM at Sheep Creek Lodge to discuss the proposed change in the mill rate and how this will affect RSA funding. The Talkeetna Sunshine Gardening Club is starting up again at the Talkeetna Library. They will be meeting to discuss Transplanting Seedlings today, Tuesday April 14th at 5pm. The next meeting times and dates will also be discussed. The yearly Seed Catalog is stocked. A wide variety of seeds are available for taking and planting in your gardens. Denali Arts Council hosts The Singing Zoologist at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Thursday, April 16th. The Singing Zoologist, Lucas Miller, blends music, puppets and projected videos to keep audiences laughing, moving, singing and learning. This show family-friendly show is suitable for all ages. There will be pizza available, by the slice until it runs out, to make this a dinner-and-a-show type of event. Denali Education Center and Jessica Stevens Community Foundation host their annual Earth Day Celebration and Nonprofit Fair on Saturday, April 18th from 11am until 3pm at Denali Education Center's Susitna Hall in Talkeetna. Featuring presentations on recycling and food waste, kids' activities and projects, and food. Talkeetna Elementary PTA hosts Competitive Pickleball for knowledgeable players seeking competitive bouts from 5 to 8 pm on Wednesdays. Attendees will rotate through games of four players at a time, equipment is available if you do not have your own. Wednesday evening pickleball is held at Talkeetna Elementary School's gym, play will move outside to the hockey rink when weather and temperatures permit. The DEA National Drug Take-Back Day is on Saturday, April 25th. There are two drop off locations available in the Susitna Valley from 10am to 2pm - at the Wasilla and Palmer Fred Meyers. All are welcome to drop off unused or expired medications in original packaging or a generic bag, without your personal information. Liquid products, such as cough syrup, should remain tightly sealed in the original container. Syringes and medical waste cannot be accepted. Turning in unused medications reduces prescription drug abuse and accidental poisoning, and protects local waterways and the environment. Upper Susitna Soil and Water Conservation District is having a meeting on Saturday, April 25th from 2 to 5 pm at the Upper Susitna Community and Senior Center. The district is being revived to resume its role in the community with initiatives in salmon and wildlife habitat stewardship, trails, AK agriculture and local food production, invasive species and providing public information.
